Installation Instructions:
1.  Unzip the zip file to separate folder.
2.  Run the setup.exe file in that folder.  Note the program directory you install to.
3.  DO NOT START PERSONAL RECEPTIONIST YET AS YOU STILL NEED TO
    DOWNLOAD THE SPEECH ENGINES AND VARIOUS RUN TIME FILES.
4.  Get the speech engines at http://www.microsoft.com/iit/speechengines.htm
    You'll want to download two files: 
	a.  Microsoft Speech Recognition Engine for all command & control 
            applications (MSCSRGL.EXE).  File size: 6.7 MB.
        b.  Microsoft Text-to-Speech Engine for all applications (MSTTSL.EXE).
	    File size: 7.5 MB.
    Place the downloaded speech engines (MSCSRGL.EXE and MSTTSL.EXE) in your
    Personal Receptionist program directory (chosen during setup in step 2)- 
    Personal Receptionist will install the files automatically when you run it for the
    first time.
5.  Download the VB6 run-time files from: ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/win95/dll/simvb6-2.zip
    Install these files per their instructions.
6.  Download MFC 40 run-time files from: ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/win95/dll/mfc40.zip
    Install these files per their instructions.
7.  Download MFC 42 run-time files from: ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/win95/dll/mfc42a.zip
    Install these files per their instructions.
8.  Download the run-time database components from: 
    ftp://ftp.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/win95/dll/vb500b.zip
    Install these files per their instructions.
9.  Finally! Run Personal Receptionist from Start... Program Files... Personal Receptionist.

What is Personal Receptionist?
The Personal Receptionist is software for your Windows 95/98 computer.  It offers users an easy way to set 
up sophisticated call management that is fully integrated with many popular spreadsheet, database, internet, 
e-mail, and outbound fax applications.  Personal Receptionist can accept both spoken and touch tone 
responses from callers. 

New: Personal Receptionist's Outlook E-Mail Reader wizard will help you setup an automated reader for 
your Microsoft Outlook e-mail with just a few mouse clicks (will not work with Outlook Express).  
Personal Receptionist can actually read you your e-mail over the phone! 

What can I do with Personal Receptionist? 
     Create an e-mail reader that will read your e-mail to you over the phone. Example included! 
     Create a fax-back server.  Example Included! 
     Record voice messages from the user (answering machine or voice mail).  Example Included! 
     Open a spreadsheet and speak values to the caller.  Example that reads stock quotes included! 
     Open an Internet document and read data to the user.  Example that reads weather included! 
     Query a database and report the results of the query to the caller.  Example Included! 
     Interact with your company's proprietary software.  Example Included! 
     The possibilities are endless...but endless examples are not included, sorry! 

How much does it cost and how do I order it? 
The program is free to download and use for 30 days, provided you agree to the terms of the license 
agreement.  To use the program beyond the 30 day trial, you must purchase a license for $59 US.  To

Personal Receptionist is shareware.  You may distribute the complete installation archive (ZIP file) in its 
orignial and unmodified form.  Personal Receptionist is not freeware - if you pay for a license the licensing 
codes you receive are not to be shared with others.  The license agreement, which is displayed during the 
installation, discusses these issues in detail.
