(c) 2002 Brown's ComputerWorks

System Requirements: Windows OS

Run the Setup program included with Choice Golf Handicap System to
install CGHS on your hard drive.

Choice Golf Handicap System can be un-installed at any time by using
the Windows Control Panel Add/Remove feature. An icon for
launching CGHS will be created in your Start Menu 'Programs
section.

If you already have a copy of CGHS, it is safest to install this
version in a different directory and do not overwrite your
program and data files. See instructions below to save your
existing Golf data Files.

Note: If you are updating or reinstalling, be sure to save your
CGHS.DAT file, COURSE.DAT file and especially your LEAGUE
(.LGE) files and Team (.TEA) files. This can be accomplished
by using the Backup / Restore feature or manually.

These files represent your existing data
information. Make a copy of these files occasionally as a
backup. Install them in the directory with this
new version of CGHS to keep your current information.

2. If you have team data records, copy your existing team data files
(.TEA) into the directory where CGHS resides.

the directory where CGHS resides, replacing the files that came
with the program.
4. Delete the cghs.dat file and then rename golflr.dat to cghs.dat

 Quick Start Instructions...

Please take the time to read the information for each topic to
get the most enjoyment and benefit from this program.
Choice Golf Handicap System can be used for personal record keeping
as well as supporting Leagues with up to 100 members per file.
The information below is a brief overview of the steps required
to operate Choice Golf Handicap System. Click on the INFO buttons to
review more detailed explanations as you use the program.

Quick Start Basics...
1. From the File menu, choose Create League to create a file for
your data. Then click on OPEN League File to load the file.

2. From the Player Management menu, choose Add Player. Enter the names
of those in your group & select the tee that they usually play from.
Click on the Add button to add them to the record file.

3. From the Course Management menu, choose Add Course to bring up the
course entry window. Fill in the Name, par for each hole, the rating
for each tee and the slope rating.

If you do not know the slope rating, use 113.

If you will be using the Casual Handicapping System or will be
handicapping to par, the Course Rating and Slope does not need to be set.

Also, enter 'Initials' for the course, to be used on the summary reports.

4. Choose Handicapping Rules and Methods from the File menu and select
the system the fits your needs best. Click on the Info buttons for
more detail concerning these options. It is best to carefully decide
which methods and limitations will be used at the onset and avoid switching
methods in "mid-stream".

5. You are now ready to enter Scores. Choose Enter Rounds from
the File menu or click on the Scorecard button. Check that the date is
correct in the lower left side of the window. Click on the names of the
people who played.
Select the course played from the box on the lower right side of
the window. Once you have completed your selections, Click on
the Accept button to continue.

6. Enter the Adjusted score for each hole, or simply enter the
front nine and back nine totals if you do not need a hole by hole
record. Some Analysis functions may not include results for
holes that do not have a value, but the totals and handicap
index along with the future Course handicap will be computed
normally. See your groups rules or read the info on Adjusted Scores.

Note: If you will be playing nine hole rounds, check the program
settings from the File menu and read the information topic
Nine Hole Rounds for choosing how the program will compute for
rounds with less than 18 holes played.

Viewing the Results...

7. Once all scores have been recorded, Choose the View you
prefer from the Display Results menu. The data can be displayed in
three manners; Most recent rounds, by date or by Individual.
The arrow buttons on the lower right of the main window cause
the display to go back for past rounds or earlier dates.

8. The handicap index for the latest round played for each
player can be used at any course to determine a Course
handicap for the next round.

Note: The course handicap (scroll to the far right of the
information line) is applicable only if the player plays
the same course as they did when the last round was
recorded, otherwise the handicap index must be used with
a course handicap table.

* If you are handicapping using the Casual System or handicapping
to par, most groups will use the handicap index directly and
not consider the additional course handicap step.

9. From the File menu, choose Program Registration to
register your copy to enable hardcopy printing of your
reports. (only $19.95)

10. Choice Golf Handicap System should prove to be perfect for smaller
casual Leagues and groups. CGHS does not produce a handicap that
is recognized as official by any organization.

When a League file is created, Choice Golf Handicap System
creates a file with the name you selected and attaches
the .LGE suffix. The .LGE files should be backed up
from time to time like any other valuable data.
Also backup your Course.dat and cghs.dat file.
League files should only be deleted or removed by using
the Delete option in the Create/Delete File section.

No guarantees of any kind are made concerning the output of
Choice Golf Handicap System.

NOTE: It is best not to delete League files or team files manually,
because the name of the league would remain on the Open League Menu List.
