                        Installing Total Investor
                        -------------------------
    1. The file INSTALL.EXE is a self extracting file containing the
Total Investor program and documentation. To install TI, run
the file INSTALL.EXE using the Windows Program Manager.

    2. A prompt will appear to place the TI program files in a
directory of your choosing. Typically accept the default of
C:\TI or choose your own. Make sure to remember or write down
    this directory name.

    4. The installation procedure can make backups of any files
being copied over. For first time installations press No when
the backup prompt appears. Following this the files for TI will
be transferred to your hard drive.

    3. Next an option to add icons for TI and all other installed
products is presented. If this is a first time installation
press Yes. Then select the program group default name or enter
    your own and press OK.

    4. Once TI's installation is complete review the Installation
and README text files by pressing the appropriate icons. TI
requires a minimum of 4 MB of RAM (8 MB recommended) with
Windows spreadsheets. Using 8MB of RAM will significantly speed
    up program operations.

    5. Review the documentation for the program and other products
by pressing the Manual icons. If you would like a hard copy of
the manual use the File Print command of Windows Write.

    6. Start Total Investor by pressing the TI icon. This will
automatically load the program into your spreadsheet.

    7. The title panel will appear followed by the TI program menu.
Use Help to quickly review and print out the major functions of
the program. We also recommend running through the tutorial in
the manual before entering your actual portfolio.

    Note for Upgraders

If you install this new version in a previous TI directory use
the installation backup feature to save the files overwritten.
These files can be deleted when you are satisfied that TI is
working properly. We also recommend backing up all of your
existing portfolios and HQFiles. Also make sure that the
program defaults in the TI configuration menu, such as the
HQFile extension, match your previous setup.
