DECIDING TO START A HOME BUSINESS

This chapter will discuss the benefits of owning
and operating your own home business, of which there
               are many.

                          Some of those benefits are:

               1) Low Overhead: For accounting purposes they are
called "fixed expenses." The common term for this
                  is "overhead."

The definition of overhead is the sum of all those
expenses which you have to pay each month before you
can count any income as a profit.

Items which are considered as overhead are heat,
telephone, rent, office equipment repairs and
maintenance, insurance premiums, license and taxes.
Don't let this list frighten you though, by learning
the `ins and outs' of running a business these
expenses will be minimal compared to your profit!

When you decided to start a business at home, some
of the expenses above will either be small or
non-existent, one of those non-existent expenses
               is rent.

You won't have to pay rent in order to operate your
business when you own your own home or are already
renting or leasing a place to live. You have succeeded
in eliminating a major business expense in this manner,
               one of those "fixed expenses."

You will be starting your business with a great
financial advantage by not having to rent a place
in which to conduct your business. Landlords of
rental property don't care if you are just starting
out or not and need time to become financially stable.
Every 30 days the commercial landlord wants the rent!
This rent comes due, even if you haven't sold a single
               thing that month!

Some months are slower than others so not having to
pay rent in order to operate your business is of great
               benefit!

           * The Registered Version will discuss the "fixed expenses"
of insurance and insurance premiums, taxes, and licenses.
