*** Installation ***

If you received this version of PictureWeb on a floppy disk
please follow the instructions on the disk label to install
    PictureWeb.

If you received this version of PictureWeb in a
self-extracting ZIP file (for example, PICWEB.EXE), you can
    install it as follows:

1 Select Run from the Taskbar Start menu
2 Type the full name of the file (for example,
	C:\DNLOAD\PICWEB.EXE)
3 Press the Enter key, and follow the prompts
4 Run SETUP.EXE out of the directory created by PICWEB.EXE

If your OLE files are out of date, the Setup program will
attempt to update them. For this reason, please shut down
all running applications, including those on the Windows
    task bar, before running SETUP.

If you received this version of PictureWeb from a SimTel
site, you will first need to download both the VB6 runtimes
    and the MFC42 files.

The VB6 runtime files and MFC42 files needed for this
program can be found at this URL:

    http://www.simtel.net/simtel.net/win95/dll.html

After downloading and installing all the files, extract
the contents of PICWEB10.ZIP and run SETUP.EXE

*** Upgrade Instructions ***

Follow the installation instructions above. You can install
this version of PictureWeb to the same location as a
    previously installed copy of PictureWeb.

*** Requirements ***

This version of PictureWeb requires Windows 95, Windows 98,
or Windows NT 4.0 or later.

*** Documentation ***

	USING PictureWeb

    1. To use PictureWeb, first use Windows Explorer to create
a Folder named SET1 (SET followed by the number 1) and then
a folder named BIG underneath SET1 (see graphic below).
For sake of example, create a "C:\My Documents\set1"
folder and then create a "C:\My Documents\SET1\BIG" folder.

	C:\My Documents +
	                |
	                += SET1 +
		                |
		                += BIG

    2. Using Windows Explorer, copy your JPEG (*.jpg) files
    into the "C:\My Documents\SET1\BIG" folder

    3. Run PictureWeb and then click the ellipses
button (...) to the right of the "Source" text box.

    4. Select the "C:\My Documents" folder and then click OK

    5. Use the "Title" textbox to place a title on each created
    web page

    6. If you want PictureWeb to create 640 pixel by 480 pixel
pictures (instead of using your pictures), then click the
"Create 640x480 files" checkbox. A new folder named "640"
will be created underneath the "SET1" folder.

When the word 'original' is clicked underneath a picture
on the web pages that PictureWeb creates, the 640x480
picture will be displayed instead of your original 'BIG'
    picture.

This is helpful if you are limited on storage space on
your web site. With the '640' checkbox enabled, you will
not need to copy the 'BIG' folder to your web site, since
it will not be referenced in any of the generated web pages.

    7. If you want to change the text of the "Copyright"
statement at the bottom of each web page, type in what
you would like to appear in the "Copyright" textbox.

    8. If you want to change what happens when people click
on the "copyright" link on each web page, type in a web
address (or even a mailto: address) in the "Copy Link" text
    box.

    9. Click the "Create Pictures" button. Your original pictures
should temporarily appear below the "Copy Link" text box.
When the process is complete, open up the file 'index.html'
created in the 'source' folder you specified.

ADVANCED USAGE:

By default PictureWeb displays the pictures as landscape. If
you want to mix and match Portrait and landscape images, save
the original picture in the "BIG\SIDEWAYS" directory. Use an
image utility like "PaintShop Pro" or Microsoft's
PictureExpress to reorient the picture as portrait.

Save the re-oriented picture you created in PictureExpress
into the "BIG" directory using the same file name.

When you run PictureWeb, if pictures are found within the
"sideways" directory, new images are automatically
    re-oriented as Portrait.
Example:
    1. Assuming you have a picture named "PIC.JPG" which was
taken in a "Portrait" orientation (camera was rotated
90 degrees when the picture was taken).

    2. Copy "PIC.JPG" to the "BIG\SIDEWAYS" directory

    3. Open "PIC.JPG" inside PaintShop Pro, and rotate it 90
degrees. Save the image to the "BIG" directory.

TO DISTRIBUTE THE WEB FILES (registered version only):

    1. Consult with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for
details on updating files. If your ISP uses 'default.html'
as the opening web page instead of 'index.html', just
rename the 'index.html' file created by PictureWeb to
    'default.html'

    2. Create a folder on the web site and move all files and
folders from your PC to that web site.

Using the example above, you would copy all the "*.html"
and "*.htm" files from "C:\My Documents", and you would
also copy all the contents of the "SET1" folder and
subfolders to the web site. (see diagram below)

    3. Copy the "C:\Program Files\PictureWeb\Default" directory
to a folder called "default" on your web site. This
folder must be on the same folder level as all the picture
folders which contain "SET" folders (see below):

    <Web Root Directory>
    |
    +======  Default
    |
    |
    +======  Thanks +
    | |
    | +=+ SET1 +
    | . |
    | . += Thumb
    | . |
    | . += 640 +
    | . | |
    | . | += SIDEWAYS
    | . |
    | . += BIG +
    | . |
    | . += SIDEWAYS
    | ...
    | |
    | +=+ SET9 +
    | |
    | += Thumb
    | |
    | += 640 +
    | | |
    | | += SIDEWAYS
    | |
    | += BIG +
    | |
    | += SIDEWAYS
    +======  Xmas   +
    | |
    | +=+ SET1 +
    | |
    | += Thumb
    | |
    | += 640 +
    | | |
    | | += SIDEWAYS
    | |
    | += BIG +
    | |
    | += SIDEWAYS
    ...

NOTE: COPYRIGHT INFORMATION ON TEXT IN 'DEFAULT' FOLDER :
The text within the 'default' folder can be customized or
changed using Windows Notepad. PictureWeb makes a copy of
the 'show480.html' and 'show640.html' files when HTML
    pages are created.
