BEFORE YOU LEAVE HOME

On your home computer with the TV tuner card follow these steps:

1. Connect to the Internet.
2. Start TVFromHome Server.
3. Start Windows Media Encoder (part of Windows Media Tools)

Here are the steps to follow when starting Windows Media Encoder:

1. The first dialog box that comes up when you start Windows Media Encoder is the Welcome dialog box. In the Welcome dialog box
choose QuickStart, then click Ok.
2. In the QuickStart dialog box that comes up next, choose
"28.8 Video - Voice" or a higher speed that 28.8 if your
Internet connection supports it, then click Ok.
3. On the main dialog box select "Preview Video" from the
View menu. Leave the preview window open and ignore any
message in it.
4. Click the play button in the main dialog box (the one
that looks like an arrow pointing right). If a TV picture
comes up in the preview window then you are finished. If the
preview window is solid black or blue then follow the steps
below under Troubleshooting.
5. Make sure you can hear the sound. If there is no
sound then follow the steps under troubleshooting.

You can save your Windows Media Encoder settings once

by choosing Save from the File menu.

If the Windows Media Encoder preview window stays blank
or blue after you press play, click stop (the button
with the black square in it). Select "Video Capture

Play.

If you can't hear the sound on the receiving computer start
the Windows Volume Control by going to
Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Volume Control
and make sure that nothing is muted and the volume sliders are
