FracSaver is a Windows screensaver using real-time fractal image generation to produce cool looking animations.

FracSaver is freeware; in can be freely distributed for no charge as long as it's unmodified.

Installation:
Copy FracSaver.scr to your windows directory, then change active screen saver and adjust other settings in control panel / display window.

Requirements:
- PC with Windows 9x
- Pentium-class CPU (preferably Pentium2-class or with 3DNow! technology)
- DirectX compatible video card

Technical info:
FracSaver is optimized for 3DNow! CPUs (K6-2, K6-3, K7), but it also works quite fast on P2, P3 and Celeron machines.
There are 8 available fractal models; speed varies between them.
Settings:
triple buffer - enabling this should improve speed a bit; might not work on older video cards
cycle speeds - speed of animation; avoid combitnations like (50,50) or (100,50) to prevent frequent repeating
amplitudes - ranges of parameter changes
iterations - maximum amount of calculations per pixel; higher values will produce darker images in black-white scheme, but will also be slower. Amount of different colors on screen depends on it; wilder color settings will look much better with high number of iterations.
You can use F12 key to take a screenshot - it will be written to c:\ directory in GF3 format. You can use GF3 (v3.5+) to refine it and create a high quality image of it.
