I. About ISB v.3.0
==================

ParallelGraphics Internet Space Builder (ISB) enables you to create
professional-quality 3D multimedia spaces and publish them on the World
Wide Web. ISB builds upon Virtual Home Space Builder (VHSB) by adding
powerful new features. These new features include:

 - advanced 3D Boolean operations for designing complex objects and shapes
   from simple elements;
 - interactive textures creating and editing;
 - sophisticated graphics and file support;
 - complete VRML 2.0 support - after you publish created 3D-space on the
   World Wide Web, anyone using a standard VRML 2.0 browser can visit and
   experience your space.

An intuitive drag-and-drop building metaphor and integrated rendering
engine allow ISB users to build, modify and view their spaces within a
single comprehensive interface.

ISB imports VRML 2.0 files, DXF files (AutoCAD), 3DS objects (3D Studio),
and MUS (VHSB) files. ISB writes highly compact VRML 2.0 files using gzip
compression.

Easy integration of HTML links allows for an instant connection from
your 3D space to HTML pages across the Internet.

Multimedia support includes animation and sound (WAV and MIDI).

ISB comes with a large library of textures, images, animation, shapes,
3D models and sample 3D scenes to help you quickly create rich
environments. NOTE: see Content and Samples for details.

In addition to its comprehensive online Help system, ISB comes with an
electronic Quick Start Guide (in HTML format). This document explains
ISB's main features and building procedures. It also includes a function
Reference Guide.

II. What's new in ISB v.3.0
===========================
This section explains the feature additions, updates, and changes that
were introduced to ISB v.3.0.

1. Support for the VRML geometry nodes Box, Cone, Cylinder, Sphere, Text.

Now you can use VRML 2.0 primitive objects Box, Cone, Cylinder, Sphere
as an objects in ISB. Using such primitives instead of their Indexed
faceset simulation can significantly reduce the scene file size. Plain
Text object, following the specifications of VRML geometry node Text
allows to add into the scene formatted writings as well as edit them as
text. You can reduce the scene file size and change the text easily
using objects of Plain Text type instead of their Indexed faceset
simulation by 3D text objects if you do not need their thick characters
and wide font choice.

2. Support for the VRML 2.0 Background node and capability of setting
the scene background schemes along with editing capabilities for the
background colors.

Now you can add Background to the scene you are editing. The background
schemes include such elements as Background color and panorama images.
You can apply these items from each pre-defined schemes independently
and edit and save the background color settings.

3. Capability of choosing the scene landscape from a set of pre-defined
landscapes.

You can choose the scene landscape, following VRML Elevation grid node
specifications, from a set of pre-build impressive landscapes. Each
landscape is a part of some scene background scheme. You can choose any
landscape for your scene from any scheme you like.

4. Customizable keyboard navigation commands for the camera.

Now you can re-define keyboard camera navigation commands assignments
and set the camera motion speed and acceleration coefficient.

5. Editing operations directly in the Perspective View window.

You can change the shape and object size, location and orientation in 3D
space with the help of Shape and Object Manipulators in the Perspective
View window.

6. Changing, renaming and format conversion operations for the resource
files, referenced in the scene file.

You can change the resource files references in the scene file now:

 - Change the file reference in the scene to make it pointing on another file.
 - Change resource files location on your disk, and make all references
   in the scene pointing to the new file location. While copying the image
   format files proceed file format conversion from/to any of BMP, GIF, JPG
   and PNG formats.
 - Remove the references to the resources from the scene file.

All operations with the resources are performed within single dialog box.

7. Full support for the image file BMP, GIF, JPG and PNG format has been added.

ISB supports now all image formats, mentioned above, including file
format conversion in any direction.

8. Importing 3DS objects (3D Studio), and DXF files (AutoCAD).

III. Hardware and system requirements
=====================================
 - Operating system: Microsoft Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4.0.
 - Computer: 486 or better, Pentium is recommended.
 - Random Access Memory (RAM): minimum of 8 MB.
 - Free disk space: 12 MB of hard disk space for program files,
   recommended free space for swap file growing - 40 MB.
 - Display: SVGA/256 colors. The 800x600, high color mode is recommended.
 - Interface: Mouse and keyboard, optional pen.
   CD-ROM drive.
 - Sound card: optional.

IV. Installation tips
=====================
ISB is distributed in two forms: a downloadable package and a CD-ROM
edition. To install the downloadable package, click on the
self-extracting archive received from ParallelGraphics Web site. To
install the CD-ROM edition, simply click Setup.exe from the root
directory of the CD-ROM and follow the installation instructions.

1. We recommend that you uninstall ISB v.2.1 and HSD 2.5 before installing this
   version.
2. We advise that you save all edited objects, scenes, clip-art, and media
   under new names and in temporary directories, otherwise your files may be
   overwritten during the installation

V. Saving and publishing your work
==================================

ISB provides two ways to store your scenes, saving and
publishing.

The Save item on the File menu saves your scene file in a file with the
extension ".wrl" in a scene folder. No matter where you save the file,
ISB remembers where the companion media, such as movies, textures, and
pictures, is located.

When you then use the Publish item on the File menu, ISB creates a .wrl
file in a subfolder of the Publish folder. It also copies the companion
media elements into the same folder and adjusts the pointers in the .wrl
file so that they point to these copies. Publishing collects the media
elements of your scene and your .wrl file into one convenient
place for easy publishing to a Web site.

If you open a file that has already been published and use Save, you
create a .wrl file that does not know the location of the companion media.
Instead of using Save, use Publish to create an updated .wrl file in the
Publish subfolder. Alternatively, you can use the Save As menu item to
create a .wrl file in another location. This .wrl file points to the
companion media in the original Publish folder.

Follow these simple rules to keep your scenes matched with their companion
media:

1. Save your scene before you use the Publish feature.
2. When you open a previously Published file do not use the Save menu
item. Use Publish to update the file or "Save As" to create a copy to a
new location.
