Image Plus 1.2 for Windows 95/98/Me is an
Educational Tool for Image Processing and Remote Sensing
========================================================

Image Plus is an educational tool for image processing and
remote sensing, consisting of an exercise catalogue and a
software program. The catalogue offers an easy step-by-step
learning framework where a user is guided from simple to
more complex topics, organised as follows:
1) Color theory with mono-color images,
2) Color theory with dual-color images,
3) Decomposing and assembling multi-color images,
4) Computing true- and false-color images,
5) Computing difference-indexed images,
6) Image operations and corrections.

The easiest way to start using this tool is to read the
exercise cataloque and do the corresponding exercises using
the software program. This program allows to compute
difference-indexed and color-dropped or -swapped images
in one go. It is also an easy-to-use processor for
image arithmetics, characteristics (e.g. histograms), and
other image operations like black / white, RGB color channels,
inverse, filtering, brightness or contrast selections.

Image Plus comes with a full range of example images to
illustrate different process types, e.g. how to compute true-
and false-color or difference-indexed images. Examples include
Landsat images (four bands) of London, Paris and Rio de Janeiro,
which are organised as follows:
1. Band = visible blue,
2. Band = visible green,
3. Band = visible red,
4. Band = near infrared.

To start processing images open one or two images labelled [1]
and [2] from folder \Images\ by selecting "File/Open..." in the
menu bar. Then choose a process type and click on "Run". The
following process types are included:
* Add [1 + 2],
* Subtract [1 - 2],
* Multiply [1 * 2],
* Divide [1 / 2],
* Index [(1-2)/(1+2)]*S; S = a number greater zero,
* Scale [1]*S,
* Scale [2]*S.

And the following image options can be selected:
* Red Band,
* Green Band,
* Blue Band,
* Black / White,
* Inverse Colors,
* Brightness / Contrast,
* Filtering (High- and Low-Pass),
* Source / Destination Color Channel(s).

With Image Plus it is very simple to compute an image with
a difference vegetation index, for example. This is done by
using the 4. band (near infrared) as image [1] and the
3. band (visible red) as image [2] with process type
Index [(1-2)/(1+2)]*S and S = 255. In the resulting image,
areas with vegetation are white and other ones are black.
Swapping [1] and [2] gives the opposite result: areas with
vegetation are black and other ones are white which has in
general a better contrast. See the exercise catalogue and
help file for more info.

To install Image Plus do the following:

1) Create a temporary folder e.g.'C:\Temp'
2) Unzip the 'ImagePlus.zip' file into this folder
    (if you don't have a zip program, a free download
     is available at http://www.winzip.com)
3) Run 'Setup' and follow the instructions
4) After the installation is successfully completed,
	you can run or uninstall Image Plus
	like any other Windows program.

If needed, the unzipped installation files can be
copied to 1.4 MB floppy diskettes as follows:
Files _setup.2, disk2.id => Installation Disk 2
Files _setup.3, disk3.id => Installation Disk 3
Files _setup.4, disk4.id, README.txt, ImagePlus.xml
			 => Installation Disk 4
All other files => Installation Disk 1
Then insert Disk 1 and run on the floppy drive
'Setup' as described above.

To uninstall Image Plus, use the Windows desktop
by clicking Start / Settings / Control Panel /
Add/Remove Programs. Then you get a list of installed
programs. Select e.g. Image Plus 1.2, press the
Add/Remove button, and follow the instructions.

Image Plus is shareware for $ 5.00 (1 user license)
so that you can test the full program before buying it.
If you would like to use it for a longer time, order it at
http://bsttc.marhost.com and email us its ID string.
Then the BSTTC administrator (bsttcadmi@yahoo.de) will
email you back the unlock code of the program you ordered.
