Imagine! 1.3.1.0 Whats New
-------------------------
This is a maintenance release on version 1.3. It fixes the following
faults which have been discovered on 1.3 and also adds one new feature.

Here are the fixes

1. The color sampling tool (sniffer) did not sample certain parts
of the image, because it detected the coordinates of some hidden
controls as being visible.

2.Clicking on the input button for arbitrary rotation, caused the
editor image to be copied to the reference every time you rotated,
so the image grew in size at each rotation.

3. Transparent text with paletted (8 bits/pixel or less) graphics
worked only for graphics having the Windows palette. This version
allows this feature to work for graphics with any palette.

4.It was possible to program colors into the Windows palette
of the Paint Box by holding down the Ctrl-Key and clicking
on a palette square.

And here is the new feature:

The columns of the filesearch facility (find in files) can
now be alpha sorted individually in forward and reverse order.

======================
Imagine! 1.3 Whats New
======================

* Eighteen new functions concerned with Coloring,Cropping,
Copying, and Pasting of Image Sections and generally
drawing on both photographic and Graphical images have
  been added.

* Accurate magnification of Images Up to 16x, and Scaling
down to 1/8 is available for both viewing and editing.

* Adjust Mode allows drawn and pasted objects to be modified
after they have been drawn. It allows stretching, inversion,
and reflection of pasted image sections, You can reposition,
and resize drawn lines, ellipses, and rectangles, and alter
their colors and line widths, after they have been drawn
and you can also adjust crop rectangles. Adjust mode also
allows cloning of the drawn shapes making certain kinds of
drawing very easy indeed. (Check out the Olympic rings
example under Image Editor in the help file).

* The Paintbox is a new tool for selecting colors for coloring.
It contains 24 color tables (palettes) containing a balanced
mixture of both mixed and shades of color. One table is the
216 color Netscape Web palette another table reproduces
512 shades of orange. Two special tables are the Windows 20
color palette, for drawing icons and other windows graphics,
and the Image palette. The image palette is for drawing on
graphics using colors present in the image. For 24 bit
graphics which have no palette, a drawing palette can be
synthesized. The paint box allows editing of real(ie not
synthesized) image palettes (hold down the Ctrl-Key on the
keyboard as you click on a colored square in the palette).

* High speed Thumbnail Gallery for location and opening of
images by content. This provides both a fast and a Hi-Fi
option. Thumbnails made with the Gallery can be saved
singly or in bulk as individual image files in any
suitable format supported by Imagine!. Some file managemet
features are available directly from the Thumbnail Gallery
  - you can copy, move and delete single image files and
search for duplicates. You can scroll around in the gallery
using the arrow keys. Image files open in imagine's main
window when you click on the thumbnail or when you press
  the Enter key.

* Fully double buffered display on all formats. This means
no flicker on any images not even transparent ones.

* Windows Bitmap (BMP)format now supports 4 bit as well as
8 bit and 24 bit for saving.

* Windows BMP format provides a choice of color reduction
method and palettes with which to save the image.

* Context Sensitive Help using the F1 key takes you directly
to the relevant page in the Help File

* Built in Screen Capture and Window Capture functions.

* Windows Wallpapers offer stretch in addition to tiled and
centered and you can also turn the wallpaper off.

* WAV files start and play automatically when you click on
them in the File List Box.

* Find In Subtree, a new item on the Folder List Box popup
menu allows you to set the root folder for a file search
using any of the folders which are visible in the Folder
  List Box of the Fileview.

* The Copy/Move error dialog now gives you the option to
cancel the copy/move operation if there is an error. This
allows you to exit gracefully if the files you are copying
happen to exist already in the destination folder.

* The rename dialog lets you set a folder as the destination
folder for a copy or move operation. (The rename dialog
in Imagine! always pops up after you create a new file or
folder so this is the most appropriate place for such
  a button.)

* The filesearch facility (Find In Files) adds a small
button (search alt drive) which acts as a bookmark
on the current search path. You click on this to
memorize the current search path. Yo can then search
some other drive or path. You click on it again to
  return to your original setting.

* Images in the Help File have been down sized. Originally
as captured in 1024 x768 mode, large fonts, they looked
great, but unfortunately in the lower display modes they
were enormous. I have recaptured all the really large
ones using small fonts so they are 25 percent smaller.

* A number of cosmetic problems which slipped through
unnoticed from previous versions particularly in
Windows small fonts display mode have also been
  eliminated in this version.
