1. What is Tell Me About Your Life, Grandma?
=============================================

Tell Me About Your Life, Grandma is the fourth in a series of four tools for improving family communication and recording family members' histories. (The others are Tell Me About Your Life, Dad; ...Mom; and ...Grandpa.) Some questions are supplied, but others may be added in the text editing area. NOTE: All of the questions, including the ones you haven't answered, appear on the text editing page. This is to remind you in case you accidentally forgot to answer one.

Take your time answering these questions. One question a day or one a week might be an appropriate goal. Be as honest and as thorough as possible. Put yourself in the reader's position -- what if YOU were the child and one of your family members was answering the questions for you? If you don't want to answer a certain question, don't. (Although a brief explanation as to why you don't want to answer it might be beneficial to the reader.) Also add any questions you wish you were asked but weren't.

9. What is shareware, anyway?
=============================

"Shareware" is a method of software distribution that gives users a chance to try software before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you're expected to pay for it ("register"). Details vary for individual programs - some request registration while others require it; some specify a maximum trial period and then the program expires. If you use Tell Me About Your Life, Grandma, you are expected to pay the Shareware fee even if you delete the program after using it for this purpose. Registration of Shareware programs entitles users to different things depending on the author and the specific program. Registration can include anything from the simple right to continue using the software to an updated program with printed manual, depending on the author and/or the individual software.

Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software and the copyright holder retains all rights with a few specific exceptions. Like commercial authors, Shareware authors are generally accomplished programmers and the programs are of comparable quality (in both cases, there are good programs and bad ones). The main difference is in the method of distribution. The Shareware author specifically grants the right to copy and distribute the software, either to everyone or to a specific group, sometimes with certain restrictions. For example, some authors require written permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their software (see section 7 above).
