 1. What This Is
================
   Reverie e-Family-History is an electronic Family History "book"
or e-Book of Remembrance, so to speak.
   It was designed to help you organize and store volumes of family
history and genealogical information, in lists of facts, word processing
documents, photographs and other multimedia. It can be easily integrated
with your favorite word processor or other types of software.
   Reverie e-Family-History makes it easy to access, search, move about,
and view your family history information. Choosing individuals or families
to view can be done as easily as clicking on a name on a pedigree or on an
alphabetical list, or even by searching for a name based on its phonetics.
   Many screens or windows are provided that allow analysis of individuals
and families- their chronologies, migration patterns, lengths of lives,
etc. Windows are also included that allow the collection of historical
information on towns and places where people once lived.
   With family history information all gathered together in one organized
place, it becomes easier and more enjoyable to view and review the history
of your family, or the history of whatever you choose to gather.

 2. Features
============
  *Everything is kept in a lineage-linked database.
  *Create as many databases as needed.
  *Each database can store up to 1 billion individuals less one.
  *Individuals and places are entered and stored only once.
  *Quick entry features prevent having to type entire names and places
each time. Auto capitalization features allows not having to use the
shift key to enter names (it can also be turned off, if desired).
  *Edit feature checks your data and reports anything that has been
found that is unlikely or illogical.
  *Gedcom tool included to import and export data to and from other
software programs.
  *Many windows provide different ways of seeing your data for a
given individual, family, or place. You can leave many windows open.
  *Use the mouse or intuitive hotkeys to move around the software.
  *Search by name, Soundex (phonetical index), or ID.
  *Move up and down the family tree easily by clicking the mouse or by
single keystrokes.
  *Link an unlimited number of user-defined events, historical docu-
ments, photographs, and other types of multimedia (including sound
files) to an individual, a family, a place, or an entire pedigree.
  *Includes several windows of other data that you can define to store
such items as profession, health, physical and character traits,
cause of death, or anything you want.
  *Use set LDS ordinance fields or set those fields for something else.
  *Integrate other favorite software programs such as a word processor,
photo editor, slide-show program, or spreadsheet.
  *Print out pedigrees, family group sheets, whatever is in the window.
  *Over 30 other lists and reports are available.
  *Extract your data for use in spreadsheets and other software.
  *The number of sources you can link to an item is unlimited.
  *Store the results of attempted research.

  *Help features, tutorials and samples included (see below).

 3. Developed By
================
   This software was developed by one with over 20 years of full-time
experience in software development and a part-time genealogist through
the years. It was developed as a result of the need to organize
volumes of genealogical data with the ability to easily access, search
and view it in a form that resembles the format of the Book of
Remembrance that has been used by so many through out the years.

 4. Use and Registration
========================
   This software is distributed by the shareware method. See below
for a definition of shareware. Use of this software is based on the
license agreement in this document.
   To register this software, please see the file named ORDER.TXT in
this install folder/directory, or see "Registration Info" under the
Help menu in the program. You can also register on the web at:
www.e-Family-History.com .

 5. Definition of Shareware
===========================
   Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you are
expected to register.
   Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should
find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it's
commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs
easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is
low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee:
if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.

 6. Computer Requirements
=========================
   100 MHz or faster Intel processor or compatible.
   Windows 95/98 or higher (or newer).
   16 MB of RAM (memory).
   16 MB of hard disk space.
   SVGA monitor and video adapter (resolution 800 x 600 or higher).
   Graphics capable printer for all printing functions.

 7. Installing the Software
===========================
   Before installing, you should make sure that there are no other
programs running on your computer.
   To begin installation, run SETUP.EXE that is in the folder (or
directory) along with REFH200.PAK and several other files that end
with PAK. You can either click (or double click) on SETUP.EXE in
"My Computer" or run it from the START menu with RUN. Setup will
allow you to install into a default folder or another of your choice,
but accepting the default folder is recommended (a few of the multi-
media examples in the included SAMPLED database are setup for it).
   If you are starting from a CD, you may wish to copy ALL of the
files from the CD to a folder on your hard drive, and run the
SETUP.EXE program from your hard drive.

 8. Starting and Exiting the Software
=====================================
   The main program (REVERIE E-FAMILY-HISTORY) can be started from
the Programs menu (after starting with the START button).
   You can also start the main program by using "My Computer" and
going into the folder into which you installed it and double clicking
(or single clicking, if your system is set that way) on REFH200.EXE.
You can also enter the EXE file just mentioned on a command prompt
line to start, if you wish.
   The Tools program (REVERIE E-FAMILY-HISTORY TOOLS) can be started
from "My Computer" or the command prompt. Its EXE file name is
RTOL210.EXE. You can also add the Tools program next to the main
program on the Programs menu by right clicking on the Windows' task
bar, left clicking on PROPERTIES, followed by clicking on the tab
that says START MENU PROGRAMS, and then following the instructions.
   The fastest and easiest way to start programs is by the use of
shortcuts on the desktop. One way to create these is by using
"My Computer" and right clicking on each EXE file name mentioned
above, and choosing "Create Shortcut", and dragging the shortcut to
your desktop.
   Exiting the programs can always be done by pressing Alt+D, and
then pressing the 'X' key. You can also click on the standard windows
close button in the right top corner, or press Alt+F4. DO NOT QUIT
THE PROGRAM ANY OTHER WAY (if you do, you might find that you need
to restore from a previous backup because of a "Version Error"
message; see Additional Documentation below for details).

 9. Help, Sample Data, and Tutorials
====================================
   Context sensitive help is available in the programs by pressing F1,
or by clicking on Help buttons. There is also more comprehensive Help
under the Help menu called "Indexed Help".
   Sample data is also included. Open the database named SAMPLED.
   Tutorials are also included in the folder in which this software
was installed. They are TUTORUSE.DOC and TUTORADD.DOC, and they can
be opened with the Windows' accessory, Wordpad, or they can be found
under the Help menu inside the program.

11. Additional Documentation
============================
   Using the Backup facility under the Database menu often is a very
important safety measure. "Version Error" messages noted below are
one reason to backup your data after every time you add or change data.
   "Version Error" messages can happen when the program tries to read
data from a different version. This message can also happen after a
power outage or turning off the computer while software is still running.
Restore your database to remedy the situation.
   To restore your database, you need to copy the database that was
last open from your last backup to your where you normally store it
on your hard drive (several files that start with the same first 7
characters). Also you need to copy the following files to the
folder/directory in which you installed this software: RMAIN.DBF,
RDBNAMES.DBF, RDBNAMES.MDX, RSOURCES.DBF, RSOURCES.DBT, RSOURCES.MDX.
Consult the documenation or the help files for your operating system
on how to accomplish this.

12. Uninstalling the Software
=============================
   1st, delete any databases you have created with this software by
using Database|Delete in the software.
   2nd, Start up "My Computer" from the desktop, and click on the
folder into which you installed this software. Double click on the
file the is named "uninstal.bat" (note that there is only 1 'L' in
that file name). The system will ask you twice, "Are you sure?"
to which you may reply each time with a "y". (The second time, it
is asking you whether or not to remove the file named "uninstal.bat").
