README.TXT for CADEC "Computer Aided Design Environment for Composites"
=======================================================================
//
1. The purpose of the program.
==============================
CADEC is a Windows 95/98/NT application that performs composite materials analysis
as described in the textbook "Introduction to Composite Materials Design",
ISBN-1-56032-701-4, by Ever J. Barbero, Taylor & Francis (1998). For information
on the textbook or to order, go to /www.cemr.wvu.edu/~ejb/icmd.html/
CADEC performs micromechanics, laminate analysis, failure predictions, computes
laminate equivalent properties, perform analysis of thin-walled composite beams
of arbitrary cross-section under bending and torsion, and more. CADEC is navigated
like a web browser, with context sensitive help, fully cross-referenced to the
textbook.
//
2. How to install the program.
==============================
To install the program, first unzip the file, then run "setup.exe" from the Start menu.
Once installed, check that you have the latest version (98.04.20) using Help About from
the top menu. You need a Display area 800x600 to see the CADEC windows without
scrollbars. To change the Display area, click Start, Settings, Control Panel; double-click
Display; select the Settings tab, adjust the Display Area dial to 800x600 pixels; then
OK.
//
3. The status of the program (Shareware).

This is a full featured program, not a demo. To use the program, you MUST read
the Licence Agreement (below) and agree to it. Basically, to use this program
you must satisfy one of the following conditions:
- you are an instructor teaching a formal course on composites materials, or
- you are a student enrolled in such a course, or
- you own a copy of the textbook "Introduction to Composite Materials Design",
  ISBN-1-56032-701-4, by Ever J. Barbero, Taylor & Francis (1998). For information
  on the textbook or to order, go to /www.cemr.wvu.edu/~ejb/icmd.html/
//
4. The distribution status of the program.
==========================================
