Installation Instructions

You are about to install The Grading Assistant for Windows 95/98 (TGAW),
a full-featured teachers gradebook and attendance system. TGAW is
a native 32-bit Microsoft Windows 95/98 application.

To install TGAW you will need approximately 13Mb of free space on
your hard disk. To run TGAW you will need at least 8Mb of memory (RAM)
on your PC, and preferably 16Mb. TGAW works best when run at 600x800
display resolution. Higher screen resolutions will also work. At lower
resolutions some of the dialogs may be too large to fit on the screen.

To install TGAW after unzipping TGAW27.ZIP, run SETUP.EXE from the
directory where you unzipped the files. SETUP.EXE will install and
setup TGAW for use on your PC.

Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. Be
sure to read the license information. Enter your name in the Name field,
anything in the Company field, and anything in the Serial Number field,
when you are prompted. (Later, if you register the program, the author will
provide you with a registration number to match your registration name.
Registering will prevent TGAW from prompting you for a serial number each
time you start the program.) TGAW is fully functional even before you
register it. Nothing has been left out or disabled, and the program has no
internal expiration date, so you can fully evaluate the program against your
needs before you register.

If you have used TGA for DOS previously, you should be aware that
TGAW is not compatible with the DOS version. That is, TGAW cannot read
or write the grading information files from the DOS version. Thus, if you
are planning to switch from TGA/DOS to TGAW, you should do it between
grading school years or else you will have to re-key your grading information
into TGAW.

If you are upgrading from an earlier version of TGAW, you should:
1) use the old TGAW version to make a backup copy of your grading files;
2) uninstall the old TGAW version;
3) install the new TGAW version; and
4) use the new TGAW version to restore your grading files from the backup
copy.

There are no known bugs in TGAW 2.7, but if you discover any, the author
would appreciate hearing about it quickly. This will allow him to correct
the problem. See the Help file for how to contact the author.

The best way to start learning how to use TGAW is to install it and
select Help from the TGA program group. Read through the on-line help
information carefully. TGAW also has context-sensitive help available from
most dialogs and menus to guide you as you learn.

TGAW is fully functional shareware. You are free to evaluate the program
for up to 30 days to see if it meets your needs. If you continue to use
TGAW productively after 30 days, you must register the program. The
program can be distributed freely so long as it is kept intact and
unmodified.

If you have problems installing TGAW, please contact the author, Jim
Reid, via the Internet at JAReid@TidalWave.Net.
