HideMe! - Desktop Icon Hider

Tired of those pesky icons sitting on your beautiful wallpaper and
messing up the scene? Although you can remove most icons, some icons
(e.g. local and network) insist on remaining on the desktop and marring
the view. With HideMe! you can safely hide the icons from view and
still let them exist on the desktop. HideMe! creates a small window
that sits on TOP of those icons and then grabs the picture underneath
the icons and paints itself with that image. The icons then appear to
disappear! The window remains in the bottom of the z order (that means
it stays behind all other windows on the screen. The hidden window can
be toggled on and off via the tray icon of the eyeball. Left clicking
the eyeball will toggle the icons visibility on and off. Right clicking
the icon will bring up a small menu that allows you to adjust the size
that will be covered. The program always locked so it cannot be moved
and always appears in the upper left hand corner. (So if you want to hide
your icons move them to the upper left corner.) If you change the
wallpaper background you can left click the window itself and it will
redraw itself to the new image. You can simply add this program to
your startup and say goodbye to cluttered screens! This program is
freeware.

Version/History Information:

August 11 1999
V1.3
FINALLY! The program now works with either Win95 or Win98! (It did not work with Win98) prior to
this version. Also made the automatic update (repaint) occur every time without the user
needing to set it.

March 11 1998
V1.2
Added feature "auto detect" to allow it to recognize that the wallpaper has changed and update
or if turned off will not update automatically. This change due to the program getting messages
about screen changes and updating while starting some directx programs and keeping those programs
from displaying properly. Added "save settings" to ensure that settings are saved. In some
cases they were not being saved when the user exited the program but hopefully that has all been
dealt with.

February 9 1998
V1.1
Added ability to recognize that the wallpaper has changed and will update
itself automatically.

January 25, 1998
Version 1.0 - First version. The program isn't meant to do anything but
hide the icons.
