-----------------------------------------------

QuickField is a Finite Element Analysis package for
electromagnetic, thermal, and stress design simulation
with coupled multi-field analysis.

Students QuickField is a free but full-featured analysis
program with limited number of mesh nodes. You can use it
to simulate simple engineering problems, to learn the main
features of the Professional version before placing an order,
or, as a free viewer, to publish your design ideas accompanied
by QuickField models.

To start using QuickField most fast and effectively you may
visit http://www.quickfield.com/support.htm and

 - read the full Users Manual,
 - get answers to Frequently Asked Questions or
 - play with interactive tutorials in our Virtual Classroom.

If your accuracy requirements exceed the limitations of the
Students version, our Professional version will suit you best.
For additional information on QuickField features and
Professional version purchase terms you are welcome to visit

This release of QuickField features:

 - Transient heat transfer analysis option introduced in
     QuickField 4.2T
 - ActiveField technology introduced in 4.3 Beta 1.
 - QuickField Parametric Workbench
 - New Setup utility

-------------------------------
Transient heat transfer analysis
--------------------------------

This option supplements the set of QuickField problem
formulations by the ability to define and solve transient
nonlinear heat transfer problems. Initial temperature
distribution can be taken from another coupled steady-state
or transient heat transfer problem. Transient heat transfer
is supported by all QuickField component. Data and problem
editors allow setting of timing parameters and editing of
temperature dependent specific heat. Transient solver allows
time-dependent non-linear field computation with unbeatable
speed. Besides standard features of QuickField
postprocessors family the postprocessor for transient
thermal analysis provides visualization of time-dependencies
and their export to other formats. All these features are
accessible from external applications via ActiveField
technology.

Additional information can be found in QuickField User
Manual and online help system.

------------------------------------------
ActiveField Technology evolution
------------------------------------------

ActiveField is the new technology that provides access to
QuickField internal objects and data structures from other
applications through Automation (formerly known as OLE
Automation). These applications can be developed in any
programming or scripting language supporting COM Automation,
including Visual Basic, C++, or Microsoft Office VBA.
ActiveField converts QuickField into a flexible development
platform for engineering applications. It includes:

 - QuickField Object model presenting the collection of COM
     Automation classes and interfaces;
 - ActiveField Technology examples demonstrating how to use
the QuickField Object Model in different client environments.
ActiveField provides examples for Microsoft Word, Microsoft
Excel, and standalone Visual Basic application.
 - QuickField Parametric Workbench (described below).

Many errors present in beta release have been fixed thanks to
feedback from QuickField beta testers. We improve and extended
the object model and added several new features. Transient
heat transfer analysis no longer remains uncovered by the
object model.

Benefits and usage of this technology are described in more
details in ActiveField Help and on our site
http://active.quickfield.com.

------------------------------------------
QuickField Parametric Workbench
------------------------------------------

This new development environment is designed to help you in
understanding the ActiveField technology and automate creation
of the most typical ActiveField applications.
It consists of:

 - QF Exploring Object Wizard for interactive authoring of
Visual Basic 6.0 code and generation of QuickField based
     analysis modules.

 - Workbench application as an environment for running these
modules with different input and output parameters

QuickField Parametric Workbench is a separate complementary
product to be installed after QuickField and cannot be used
without it. Additional information can be found in Workbench
Help.

------------------------------
New Setup Utility
------------------------------

QuickField 4.3 installer is now based on new Microsoft Windows
Installer technology. The most important new features are:

 - Improved registration of QuickField as an automation
     server on the target system;
 -   Support of patching and upgrading from the Internet;
 - Improved integration with Windows 2000/XP
     "Add/Remove Programs" control panel applet;
 - Automatic health check and repairing.

Detailed description of setup utility, system requirements and
installation procedure could be found in Installing
QuickField.htm in the root directory of your QuickField CD.
