What is PubMedMaker
PubMedMaker is a bibliographic software for medicine and biology. PubMedMaker converts 
PubMed data to FileMaker Pro file just by drag & drop. PubMed* is a free on-line web site for 
MEDLINE offered by National Library of Medicine. PubMedMaker also makes Reference list 
with rich text, HTML, or plain text. You can easily arrange it to fit the journals format to which 
you are going to contribute.

System requirments
You need below system requirments to use PubMedMakerIII.
Windows: Windows98**, WindowsMe, Windows2000, FileMaker Pro 3.0~5.5 (Win)* 
Macintosh: Macintosh PowerPC, Free memory of 14~18MB, Mac OS 8.5~9.2, FileMaker Pro 
3.0~5.5 (Mac)*

* If you do not have FileMaker Pro, you can download Trial software of FileMaker Pro (Mac, 
Win).

Set up of PubMedMakerIII--Important. You also have to read QuickStart in the Manual 
folder before use of PubMedMakerIII.
1. Preferences
--Double click PubMedMakerIII. Preferences window opens.
1) Version of FileMaker Pro--Select the version of FileMaker Pro that you are using.
2) making FileMaker files--One step method makes FileMaker File only by drag & drop a 
Download file on PubMedMakerIII. Two step method makes a convert file (.cvt) at first drag & 
drop, then makes FileMaker File by second drag & drop convert file (.cvt) on PubMedMakerIII. 
See QuickStart of Manual.
3) Download files after conversion--as it is: Download file is left as it is after conversion. put 
away in Download files folder: Download file is kept in the Download files folder after 
conversion, which is automatically made in PubMedMakerIII folder. move to Trash: Download 
file is deleted after conversion.
--Click "Save" that becomes active if you change the present settings, and click "Quit".

2. Selection of PDF folder
Click "PDF folder" tab panel of PubMedMakerIII. If you use PubMedMaker for the first time, 
click "New". Set a PDF folder at any place where you want*. If you are a user of 
PubMedMakerII and have a PDF folder already, click "Select". Select the PDF folder that you 
are using. FileMaker files made with PubMedMakerIII refer to this folder in managing PDF files. 
All users must set it up before using PubMedMakerIII even if you will not need PDF files of full 
text paper.
* Windows users: Do not put a PDF folder in MyDocuments folder (joint folder).

3. Registration--Registration code is different from that of PubMedMakerII.
A copy of PubMedMakerIII is a shareware. You can use PubMedMakerIII for 60 days with Trial 
code shown below. Double click PubMedMakerIII and click hRegistrationh tab panel.
1) Unregisterd--If you use PubMedMakerIII without registration code, a splash window 
appears before each use of PubMedMakerIII on the next day or later.
2) Trial code--Enter sasen001001 in Registration code box of gRegistrationh tab panel, and 
click "Register". You can use PubMedMakerIII for 60 days without splash window.
3) Registration code--You have to get Registration code for continuous use of 
PubMedMakerIII. You can reach my registration web site from gOn-lineh tab panel of 
PubMedMakerIII. See below.

4. Register on line
1) How to access--You can reach my registration web page at <http://order.kagi.com/?ZWK> 
by just click "Register on line" button in the gOn-lineh tab panel of PubMedMakerIII. You need a 
credit card (VISA, MasterCard or American Express) and a Forms capable browser. Secure 
(SSL) registration web pages are available.
2) Licence cost--Single user license that includes both licences for Macintosh and Windows 
version , US$25 per user. Upgrade cost for a PubMedMakerII user, US$ 12.
3) Registration code--Registration code will be sent via e-mail within 24 hours~2 days.
4) Registering PubMedMakerIII--Double-click PubMedMakerIII, click gRegistrationh tab panel, 
enter User name, Registration code and click gRegisterh. You can use PubMedMakerIII without 
splash window. Registered user also get FileMaker password for Templates, which enable you 
to access layout and field definition of templates for PubMedMakerIII.


What's new--PubMedMakerIII 1.0b2 (Oct 7, 2001)
1. Cross platform--PubMedMakerIII has Macintosh version and Windows version. FileMaker 
file created by each version of PubMedMakerIII can be converted to fit for the other system by 
just drag & drop on PubMedMakerIII.
2. PubMedMakerIII includes text converter function--PubMedMakerIII includes text 
converter function that was separated as PubMedConverter in PubMedMakerII. Users get 
FileMaker file by drag & drop download file only one time on PubMedMakerIII.  Conversion 
errors do not occur theoretically because the conversion method was revised to extract and 
sort items. Conversion speed is high.
3. Major revise of file managemant
1) Making FileMaker file--One step method makes FileMaker File only by drag & drop a 
download file on PubMedMakerIII. Users also can take a option of two step method like 
PubMedMakerII. PubMedMakerIII accepts a download file located at any place. You do not 
need to put it in the PubMedMakerIII folder.
2) FileMaker file with the same name--When you are going to make a FileMaker file, that has 
the same name with a file in the PubMedMakerIII folder, the data is added to that file. You can 
also cancel to make a file and remake with using other name. 
3) Conversion of FileMaker file--Just drag & drop FileMaker file on PubMedMakerIII. There 
are three cases that you have to convert FileMaker file. Conversion of old FileMaker file (II3.8, 
III)to new version. Conversion of FileMaker file for Mac to that for Win. Conversion of FileMaker 
file for Win to that for Mac. PubMedMakerIII accepts a FileMaker file located at any place. You 
do not need to put it in the PubMedMakerIII folder.
4. Preferences
1) Version of FileMaker Pro--You do not have to select Templates manually.
2) making FileMaker files--one step or two steps.
3) Download files after conversion--You can put away download files after conversion.
5. Automatic referring to PDF folder in FileMaker file
6. Automatic management of PDF files
1) Input Stored PDFs--All PDF names are imported to PDF name box if they are found in the 
PDF folder.
2) Check PDF--If a putative PDF file is found in the PDF folder, the name of PDF file is 
imported to PDF name box.
3) Keep PDF--puts away PDF file in the PDF folder, and import its name to PDF name box.
7. Revise of Reference set up--Form of Autors is added. You can specify space after periods 
of Authors initials.
