Welcome to LBE Web Helpdesk.  This is a 45 day trial of the software and is identical to the purchased version except for the inclusion of certain 'reminder' screens.

The software is not free and must be purchased if you wish to use it beyond the 45 day trial period.  Once you purchase it, you may continue using the software and the data you created in the trial period.

You may freely distribute this trial version to others as long as you distribute the entire package unmodified.

LBE Web Helpdesk runs against either an MS Access, Oracle or MS Sql Server database.

The install will create an MSSql folder containing the SQL scripts needed to create the Sql Server database.

Also created will be an Oracle folder  containing the SQL scripts needed to create the Oracle database.

Please read the appropriate readme.txt file in each folder.

INSTALLATION
============
1. Install the Web Server
You need to have Microsoft Personal Web Server (PWS) or Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) running on either your local machine or one that you can connect to via the network.

2. Install Internet Explorer 5 on your web server
Internet Explorer 5 must be installed on your web server to provide support for the VBScript used in LBE Web Helpdesk.

3. Install the data access components
LBE Web Helpdesk requires you to have installed Microsoft OLE DB drivers for Microsoft Jet (if you are using the Access database) or for Microsoft SQL Server. Both these drivers are normally installed during the installation of your chosen web server.  If you are not
sure, you should download and install the latest mdac_typ.exe file from http://www.microsoft.com/data/download.htm

4. Install the LBE Web Helpdesk files
On your web server, run the setup.exe supplied in the LBE Web Helpdesk installation set. Make sure you have full rights in the selected installation directory.

5. Register the dll
This should have been done for you by the installation program. If there are any problems click the Windows Start button, select run then type regsvr32 c:\path\lbeweb40.dll where path is the directory you installed LBE Web Helpdesk into.

6. Add a new virtual directory/web site to your Web server
Using your web server administrator tool, add a new virtual directory to your web and point it to the directory you installed the files into in step 4.

7. Access the Helpdesk
Point your browser to http://machine_name/folder_name/oplogin.asp.  The machine name can be found from the Network applet (Windows Start menu, Settings), the folder name will depend
on the name you gave the virtual directory in step 4.

8. Log in
You will be prompted for a name and password, enter 'trial' and 'password' (both without the quote marks), then click the Submit button.
