Thank you for downloading Expense Journal for Microsoft Access 2000 / 2002. 

In order to be able to use Expense Journal, you will need to have Microsoft Access 2000 or 2002 installed on the computer that you will be using the Expense Journal application on.

[B]. DESCRIPTION

Expense Journal for Microsoft Access 2000 / 2002 is an application which helps manage your personal or organization's expenses. 

It provides numerous reporting features which can be printed out for fiscal or calendar year end reports.

Track all your purchases and expenses from your vendors and suppliers, as well as keep track of purchases and expenses by fiscal or calendar year.

Expense Journal is easy to use. If you are familiar with using a spreadsheet to record your expenses, then you
will find Expense Journal a joy to work with for both personal and organization use.

[D]. REQUIREMENTS-HARDWARE

Minimum Hardware Requirements To run  Expense Journal
1. PC compatible  486 at 66Mhz, 24 Mb RAM
2. Video card capable of  800x600 resolution 
3. 15" desktop monitor supporting above resolution.


Recommended  Hardware Requirements To run  Expense Journal:

1. PC compatible Pentium 166Mhz; 32 Mb RAM or greater.
2. Video card at 800x600 or greater resolution.
3. Desktop 17" monitor supporting above resolutions

[E]. REQUIREMENTS-SOFTWARE

1. Any of the following Microsoft operating systems:
Windows 95c; 98; 98SE; WindowsME; Windows2000; WindowsXP or NT4. 

2. Microsoft Access 2000 or 2002 [make sure that you have the correct version of Expense Journal for your copy of Access.

Note: You must have a copy of Microsoft Access installed on your computer since Expense Journal will not run without Microsoft Access.

[F]. INSTALLATION

The Expense Journal package requires about 7-10 Mb of free disk space. Before installing the application, please make sure that your computer has enough free disk space.

This installer comes with the evaluation or shareware  [Demo] version of the Expense Journal application. The shareware version  will allow you to fully test the application's features, but has a limit to the number of records that you can enter.

The shareware version may be upgraded to the  Retail version at any time. All the data that you have saved in the shareware version may be used when you upgrade to the Retail version.

To install Expense Journal on your computer:
1. double-click the "Setup.exe" or "Setup" file to launch the installer. During installation, the installer will automatically place the application files in "C:\Mentorex\Journal\"  in the top or root level of your C:\ drive partition.

!!! Please wait for the installer to finish before launching the application.  

Do NOT rename or change this installation directory! The installer will also place a sample database "Sample.mde", along with supporting documentation in the same directory.

Once installation is completed, a new Program Group will be created called "Expense Journal" inside
your Windows Start button under "Programs". Launch the application by going to your Windows Start button and selecting Expense Journal from the  Program group.

[G]. UNINSTALLING Expense Journal

Note: If you are upgrading to the Retail version, you do NOT need to uninstall the shareware version of Expense Journal application.

To remove the Expense Journal application from your computer, select the "Uninstall" icon from the Expense Journal program group. All components will be removed with the exception of the database file "journal_data.mdb". This was done so as to prevent any accidental or unauthorized removal of your data.  This file must be removed manually. 

The path to this file is "C:\Mentorex\Journal\data\journal_data.mdb". To remove it, drag it into your computers' Recycling Bin.

[H]. BEFORE UPGRADING TO RETAIL VERSION

Upgrading of the Expense Journal application will not overwrite the "journal_data.mdb" file where all your data is stored. This means that the data that you have entered in a previous installation will be available  when you install the Retail versions of the application.

In any case, it is always advisable to keep current backup copies of the "journal_data.mdb" file for safekeeping. The default path to this file is "C:\Mentorex\Journal\data\journal_data.mdb". Making frequent backups of this file is a good idea in the event of a computer crash or virus attack, etc.

[I]. PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION

--> Be sure to check our Web Site for the latest versions of the software!

--> The Retail  version of Expense Journal may be installed over the shareware version without the need to first  remove or uninstall the shareware version. 

--> NO downloading is required during purchase. The software is simply "unlocked" once the purchase transaction is completed successfully.

To purchase, double-click on "Setup.exe" or "Setup" to launch the installer and select the "Purchase" option. You must have a connection to the Internet in order to be able to complete the purchase. A valid credit card number along with your name, e-mail, and address information will be required. 

All transactions are done via secure encrypted connections. Once the transaction is completed successfully, the software will then be automatically unlocked for you to use and a printable receipt will be provided for you to print for your records. A separate receipt will also be e-mailed to you for verification purposes, to the e-mail address that you have specified. 

Once the software is unlocked, follow the directions in the installer to complete the upgrade.
