Although I have used this program myself for many years, it is only at
the beginning of 99 when I was upgrading it to Windows 98 that I

feature or utility you would like added please let me know.

2. INSTALLATION
===============
The typical installation will take approximatly 15 meg.
The minimum installation will take approximatly 2 meg of necessary dll files
into the system directory, the program is then run from CD in the directory
RunOnCD. Bible.exe will run the Windows 9x, BibleDos to run in dos and
bible3x.exe to run under Windows 3.x

-----------------------------------------------
Installing Bible Readings and Utilities on your hard disk
-----------------------------------------------
The bible default installation should take under 15 Meg of hard disk .
If you find that you do not use the old or the new version of the bible
one of these can be removed by deleting the Old or the Modern directory.
This will save over 6 Meg. If you are short of space and prefer the bible
can be run directly form the CD-ROM from within the 'RunOnCD'
directory
(Win 9X users who run from CD) To add a short cut to your desk top go to the
'RunOnCD' directory and right click on the bible.exe program,
from the menu right click on send to desk top item.

3. FEATURES
***************
I suffer from dyslexia and the program was written to aid my study of
the bible. This is the primary feature and I have found the program to be
effective in my bible studies. So when I was upgrading to take advantage
of windows 9x I decided to make a public release.
I have also included a calendar of Festivals and Saint Days, in version 3.0,
which I am now studying.

The search program will search for a given string of characters then
display the verse numbers and sentences the string was found in.
Search only those books you are directly interested in as even with a
fast computer searching over 6 Meg of data can take many minutes.
Saving the search with the editor and reloading as required is quicker
than repeating a search. Though once the data is in the computers
memory cash repeated searches are very much quicker.

The editor can be used to write on any subject, by selecting your own
reading and displaying it in the section display it can then be copied
into the editor to be included in what you are writing. This makes
quoting a verse verbatim easier than choosing a relevant verse.

The select your own reading can load a single verse or a whole book
from the bible. If you wish to load more than one book then you
can load them directly with the editor. If the computers memory
becomes overloaded it can notable slow down and saving very large
files can contain memory errors. When working on them myself I
have found that only Microsoft Word 7 or direct disk programming on
very large files is necessary and I have tried a number of different
word processors including many famous named ones. The one I have built
into the program is equivalent to the WordPad in Windows 9X, I hope to
make many more improvements to it.

Bible Readings and Utilities is an update to Ver 2.0 which was for windows
3x, there is a copy of this on the CD if you do not have Windows 9x.
There is also a dos version (Version 1), both versions 1 & 2 where
only intended for my own use and are mainly key board controlled.
Although version 3.0 is built for 9x it may also run on Windows 3.11
if the PC is not to old, try it as the version 3.0 contains more
flexible controls and more utilities, such as the saint day calendar.

4. IMPORTANT INFORMATION
************************
This section contains important information not found in the online
Help, or online text files. Please read through this material
in its entirety.

The path in the configuration controls is there in case you change
the directories around and also for use on net worked machines.
The directories containing the bible and the records for the default
readings should all have the same base directory at which the main
path should point. The bible.exe program should be in the base
directory but can be else were as long as the config.rtf file is
correct. If the bible.exe is moved it will automatically make a default
configuration file and only change necessary is to the path to the base
directories of the record and bible files, then to save the
configuration with this pointer to the base directory of the
record files. Local net works need only the bible.exe and config.rtf
files on the work station with the configuration pointing to the
base directory of the record and bible files.
As most people are more familier with mouse control and visual controls
the changing of the path in the configuration should only be done
if you are experianced computer user. It is recommended that less
experianced users take the extra time to uninstall then re-install
to a new directory group rather than renaming the directories.
