               Resque antivirus
Program status:Freeware, this means you can use it and distribute it
as you wish, although no future support is garauanted,my address is at the
bottom of this page if you have problems.
How to use resav.exe
The program is relativly self explanatory
I recommend running it from an immediate subdir of c:\
with no more than three digits such as c:\asm,c:\dog ect.
but this is not nessacary.
press the F1 key an enter a file name
it will create a data file for the file, everytime it's entered
after that it will compare the acual file to the datafile
an will warm you if the file has changed, if a new datafile is made
for the file agian, it is possible that a virus is deleting the old
data to try to prevent detection and disinfection, for this reason
you may want to move all .asc files to a:\ (these are the data files)
to do this go to the directory the data file is in an type
move *.asc a:\ and have the disk in a:\
after this the disk should be write protected, do this by switching
the tab on the disk over.
press F2 an enter the filename to disinfect, this restores the file
to its origanal condition(note:the file size will probably still be
larger than when the file was at its normal condition, this is becuase
resav only keeps the virus from executing, some of the virus body will
normally be left in the file to avoid bugs and accidental file
curroption, anti virus scanners may report these as infected, dont be worried
about that unless the infection appears to be spreading(indicating
resav might not have got the file cleaned, normally it will but nothing
is full proof, this might seem inconvient but it does minmize the chances
of the file being uncleanable and therefore give you greater chance of data
recovery if you would like to see this changed mail me an tell me

        Introduction:
The program that should be included with this documentation
is named resav.exe, it is a disinfector of unknown virus's, it also
detects curropted or virus infected files. It does not detect boot
sector virus's,it's main purpose is to detect virus's that commercial
scanners have not yet recieved a copy of and to disinfect them and/or
any files that a virus scanner is uncapable of repairing, if you
trade files over the internet there's a good chance you'll come in
contact with a new virus or a new strain of a virus an so i would
strongly recommend using resav or another integrity checker, as well
as a virus scanner, Resav can usually disinfect files, sometimes it
cannot, but it offers the highest level of successful disinfection rates
i have seen of any of the disinfectors i've tried, I was unsatisfied
with the other programs disinfection rates thats why the time to write it an
let people use it for free.I don't belive there is any one solution to
fighting virus's using an integrity checker as well as a virus scanner is
in my opion the best combination for success. Some files naturally change
in content, some of these are possible to infect, these makes the integrity
checker vunrable to these virus's, scanners are totally unable to fight
agiant new virus's, hueristic scanning is in my opion a joke in it's
current state, and unlikely to catch any virus that was written by a
knowledgeable author, a good integrity checker however will catch an
disinfect these virus's without a problem, that's why i fell the
combination of the two technique's is necasarry.

This information is my personal information an how you can contact me.
 question, comments, suggestions are welcome.

Note about suggestions, if you have ideas for this or ideas about what
you feel would be a useful program please write to me, I'm always
looking for new ideas.

go away an if you press enter key a few times it will reappear at
the

of you dos box
False Id:It is possible for res-av to read part of the programs data
that maybe changed by a legitamate program, however unlike a virus specific
scanner, resav.exe will not damage the file while attempting to clean it.
Back To Res_av :p
Other than that resav should function smoothly under ms-dos an most clones.
It can effectively identify an clean almost every type of known infection.
It can identify an clean unknown virus's that no virus scanner could remove
or identify, even once the virus has been discovered by the researchers
it takes time before you ever get the update, many scanners are only updated
every 2 months, most virus's spread for quite sometime before they are
added to the update.Often different strains of the virus will cause
the virus scanner to be unable to clean to file, resav can clean files
without problems the vast majority of the time. As, i stated earlier both
methods have there advantages, i dont consider one better than the other.
For most file types, I find the resav approach perferable, there are
however some file type's that a scanning method is the only way to go.
You are unlikely to encounter a virus of this nature, but it is possible,
That being said i invite you to give resav a try, i think you'll find it
quite useful if an executable file infecting virus ever does infect
your system.
