                  Greek/English Installation procedure

STEPS:
      A) Insert the distribution floppy in one of your drives for example A:
      B) Switch to that floppy drive by typing for example "A:<enter>"
      C) type INSTALL
      D) Select your Installation Floppy Drive
      E) Select your Display Adapter
      F) Press Enter and the software will be installed and run for the first
         time

From this point on to activate the keyboard Driver, each time you
power on your PC , just type GREEK.

                    Generic information on VGAGREEK

The screen drivers are built for both VGA and EGA screens, theyhave been
tested under many different systems, and will even support ost of the 132
column modes modern boards provide. The three standard fonts 16x8 , 14x8 and
8x8 are the ones used. If a certain mode uses none of the above fonts then
the manufacturer of the board is trying non standard hardware.

The reason the screen driver and the keyboard driver are separate are
historical. The original PCs from Greece had the character set in ROM, that
meant that theyone only needed the keyboard driver.Since those are very
expensive to import to the U.S., one needs the screen driver also.

These programs do NOT work under WINDOWS(TM).The WINDOWS system is
different from plain vanilla DOS. But if you have loaded them before starting
windows then whenever you start a DOS session they will be there waiting for
you.

			    HOW TO USE THEM

Simplicity itself. To switch between GREEK and ENGLISH , press and hold
the CONTROL key down and press the minus "-" key. Careful not the minus on the
numeric keypad but the one next to the "|" key. The stress (椦) appears after a
a 2 two key combination. First press the ";" key and then the letter you want to
stress , the letter will appear stressed. Dialysis () work the
same way, only the start key is now ":" which is the shifted version of ";".

If you want the ":" , or ";" to appear instead of stressing a letter just
tap them twice, or tap a consonant ( 磭द ) .

If after exiting some application you try to type some GREEK but instead
you get gibberish, then exit to DOS and issue the "NORMAL" command. That should
reset the computer to bilingual operation.

                          WORD OF WARNING

This is a SOFTWARE only product. This means that I had to patch MS/DOS which
in turn means that not all applications will work with the GREEK characters.
Well behaved applications that do not access the computer directly but go
through DOS should have no problems, other weird applications who knows.
Beware some applications load completely new fonts each time you do
something. Make sure you follow the documentation of each particular application
pertaining to SOFT FONTS.Before buying this package make sure your
COMPUTER/APPLICATION/PRINTER combination works with this GREEK. A prime
example of the above is the Word Perfect program which as of now has no support,
for the HP laser printers.

The program HP.COM is now bundled and fixes laser printer reset problems.
The program sits on top of the Printer Interrupt and whenever it sees a
character whose ASCII value exceeds 127 (decimal) it turns the printer in the
greek character set. This also implies that to get block characters to be
printed, you have to reset both your computer and your printer.

                          ATTENTION

Lastly the laser greek printer fonts do not have the IBM block characters
defined. Since I was time strained I put no effort in them. If I decide to
define them in some future release , then there will be no update charges
from me. If your local salesman demands some money talk straight to me.

A reminder : to use any or all of the above commands first CD into
the subdirectory where the fonts reside , which is by default C:\VGAGREEK.

Last words .

Do NOT use ANSI.SYS it is stupid it will NOT work for more than
   25 lines or 80 columns.

If you need 132 column support for greek character sets please contact

                        DOT MATRIX SUPPORT

Support for the Dot Matrix Printers comes in the form of the "LX"
program. To use this program you have to give a different command line parameter
for each printer. A batch file already exists for PANASONIC(tm) printers.

Footnote: This is the latest and last implementaition of VGAGREEK.
I have tested it under all ( ALL ) conditions and screens
Using my VGAUTILS package, you can have greek in 132 column]
modes ( with boards that support them) , 132x60 is feasible
My screen Grabber can also grab arbitrary size screens
Ask for great software. If it doesn't exist I can write it.

P.S. To use WordPerfect with these programs you have to set the
printer up sa DOS TEXT PRINTER unfortunately.
