                   INSTALLING THE ENVIRONS TEXT EDITOR

DOS Just copy EV.EXE from the diskette to the directory you want
it in, and make sure that directory is in the PATH
                 environment variable specified in AUTOEXEC.BAT

Windows 95 From "My Computer", double-click on the icon for the
diskette drive and drag the "EV" file to the directory
you want to install it in. Right-click the "EV" file
and choose "Create Shortcut" from the menu. Drag the
shortcut to wherever you want to run the program from
(e.g. the desktop). To change the name of the shortcut,
right-click it and choose "Rename". To change the working
directory (which will be the starting default directory
in the Environs File Finder), right-click the shortcut
and select "Properties"; Under the "Program" tab you
can specify a working directory and also, if you wish,
                 you can change the icon.

Windows 3.x Copy EV.EXE from the diskette to the directory you want
or to install it in. From the desktop, click on the program
Windows for group you want to run Environs from to select it (or
Workgroups create a new program group by selecting the "File" menu,
select "New", choosing the "Program Group" button then
entering a name). Select the "File" menu, then the "New"
option and the "Program Item" button. Click "OK", and
enter the name you want to appear with the icon for the
Environs Text Editor, the complete path to EV.EXE and
the working directory you want to start in when Environs
is run. If the directory you install in is in the PATH,
you don't need to specify the whole path to the executable.

NOTE: You may want to invoke EV.EXE from a .BAT file that includes
a MODE CON RATE=32 DELAY=1 command, since Windows DOES seem
to insist on setting the keyboard to the maximum delay and
slowest repeat rate when it starts a DOS program.
