This file (register.txt) contains information regarding the
program registration.

Why to register
_________________________________________________________________

The program ARCHIV is shareware. It means you can use it freely
for evaluation period of 30 days. After that period expires you
must either register or stop using the program. The program
itself does not contain any time limitation, it will work even
though your trial period expires. Observation of these terms is
up to you.

What you get as a registered user:

1. A special version ARCHIVP running in protected mode which uses
all free memory of your computer. This version can read the
content of much larger disks (like CD-ROM). Almost never it will
bother you with "Out of memory" message. This version is nearly
necessary to read file content from compressed files. The reason
is: The decompressing program must be run to complete this
operation while the part of the memory is already used by ARCHIV.

2. A discount for registration of the next version of the program.

3. A better chance that your request for a new functionality or
change appears in the next version.

4. A nice feeling you support the program you like.

How to register
_________________________________________________________________

The registration is very simple. Send all your data and the
registration fee to my address and you will get a registered
version of the program. Registration is valid for one person.

Registration fee is 100 Sk/Kc for users from Slovak republic and
Czech republic. Registration fee for other countries is
US$20/DM30/120 F/12 GBP.

If you register from Slovakia you can send a postal order. It is
suitable to confirm registration with a letter.

For users outside Slovakia it is a bit complicated. If you want
to send a money-order you will probably not avoid complications.
This transaction may be rather expensive. The simplest and the
fastest way is to insert money (no coins please) into a letter
and send it as a registered letter.

Data required for registration: your name and surname, address,
country, optionally e-mail, company name. Also I would like to
know where you obtained the program ARCHIV from.

Discounts for registration in larger amounts:

        5 to 9 copies US$ 18 per 1 copy
       10 to 19 17
       20 to 49 16
  over 50 15

What is Shareware
_________________________________________________________________

Terms Shareware, Freeware and Public Domain are spoken very often
among computer community and in computer magazines. All of these
terms are usually considered "freely distributable software" but
a lot of people do not understand what they mean exactly.

  SHAREWARE
  ---------
Definition of Shareware from The Association of Shareware
Professionals:

Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
differ on details -- some request registration while others
require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
using the software to an updated program with printed manual.

Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software,
and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs
and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of
distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
specific group. For example, some authors require written
permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
Shareware.

Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.
And because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware
has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the
product, you don't pay for it.

  FREEWARE
  --------
Programs distributed as Freeware are free of charge, you don't
pay any fee for them. But Freeware is a copyrighted software. It
means you can distribute and use it without limitations, but you
cannot modify it nor present it as your own work.

  PUBLIC DOMAIN
  -------------
Programs marked as Public Domain are usually smaller programs
(for example utilities) without copyright. Their authors don't
require anything from you, you can use and modify these programs.
Therefore they are often supplied with the source code.
