                            PAYROLL CANADA
                            --------------

1. The purpose of the program.

Payroll Canada is a fully functional, complete payroll system for one
company or multi-company use. Maintains employee database, prints
cheques (with bank reconciliation) or payslips, summary journal, payroll
register, figures for PD7 tax reports, (registered version also does
annual T4 Forms), and various reports on employees such
as birthday list, mailing labels, rotary cards, pay history, etc.
Payroll register report can be exported as a .DIF or .DBF (dBASE IV)
file for optional additional manipulation in a spreadsheet or DBMS.

Executables are year 2000 versions and intuitive to use, but
documentation is older and in need of update. MS DOS, but has
mouse support and can also be run on any Windows machine. Registration
is Cdn.$100.00 per year and includes federal and provincial tax changes
January and July (if changed in July), maintenance of T4 forms (as
Revenue Canada do change the layout of the forms from time
to time), telephone support, and program enhancements. Does not
calculate Quebec taxes and available in English only.

2. How to install the program.

Run (Windows users can double click on) INSTALL.BAT to move the files
into our default directories. Full information will be displayed by
install.bat from file instl1.txt before the actual install and from
instl2.txt (how to restart, how to setup Windows icons) after the
install. If you wish, you can terminate install.bat before the install
by pressing Ctrl C at any of the "Press Any Key to Continue" prompts.
There is also a SETUP.BAT (as Windows users are more used to running a
setup program) but all it does is run install.bat. Files with a .bat
extension are plain ASCII text (like a .txt file) but the text represent
a series of executable DOS instructions, as though the commands had been
typed at the keyboard. Your computer will automatically follow those
instructions (even in Windows) just like it would if executing a
program. All you need to do is either type the word INSTALL at the DOS
prompt for the directory containing these files and press enter, or you
can double click on the install.bat file name in Windows Explorer
(Windows 95/98) or File Manager (Windows 3.1).

3. The status of the program (Public Domain, Freeware, or Shareware).

Payroll Canada is a shareware program which means you can try before you
buy, but it does not mean it is free software. If you like the program
and continue to use it after a reasonable trial period (maximum trial 60
days please) then you must pay for it (register). Registration is
Cdn.$100.00 per year and includes federal and provincial tax changes
January and July (if changed in July), maintenance of T4 forms (as
Revenue Canada do change the layout of the forms from time
to time), telephone support, and program enhancements. Does not
calculate Quebec taxes and available in English only. Send your
registration cheque for Cdn$100.00 plus GST/HST and, if in Ontario, PST, to

Anthistle Systems & Programming Ltd.
563 Patricia Drive,
Oakville,
Ontario, CANADA L6K 1M4

Total due, including taxes, in Ontario and Maritime HST provinces
is $115.00, in other provinces $107.00. Mail in either direction takes
about a week, plus processing time, so allow 3 weeks after mailing your
cheque for delivery.

4. The distribution status of the program.

Payroll Canada is freely distributable except that if a fee is charged we
do require that the purchaser is NOT given the impression (express or
implied) that the distributor's fee covers the cost of the program, or
allows unconditional rights to use it forever, or entitles the purchaser
to any support from us. It must be made plain by the distributor that
the programs on their media are for evaluation purposes only and that
purchasers must also register (make an additional payment of the
required registration fee) direct with the author of the program for
continued use beyond a reasonable evaluation period (our maximum is 60
days) and before they are eligible for any author help or other support.

5. How to contact the author in the event of questions or problems.

Author's name, address, phone, and email are at the top of this file.

6. Legal limitations

Too big to fit in here, see file LICENSE.TXT which will be with the
programs (on the \PAYPGMS directory after the install) for the end user
License Agreement. As is normal in the package software business, your
use of our programs indicates your agreement that we are absolved from
any and all liability and that we are responsible for nothing.
